Review by Nazy M. Hello. My name is Nazy and I am a Shopaholic. Yes I admit it. It’s safe to say if a new boutique opens in the area I am first to know about it. While on a normal day I would not survive without my GPS to get from point A to point B, my radar works pretty well when it comes to shopping and clothes. So when I heard the woman behind the very successful Erica D. Boutique is opening a store called Harper’s in Corona Del Mar I was like a kid waiting to try the newest ride in Disneyland. If you’ve lived in Orange County for at least a couple of years you have either been to Erica D. at some point or have heard of it. The store used to be the destination for the fashion savvy and stylish people in the OC area. Its loyal clients knew they could find anything they were looking for whether it was the latest trends for a night out or a simple outfit for Sunday brunch. So you can imagine the disappointment amongst those loyal clients of Erica D. when the store closed its doors about a year ago (because of the economy crisis and personal reasons). But lucky for us fashion enthusiasts and Shopaholics, Erica couldn’t stay away for long. She used the recent changes in her life as an inspiration to open Harper’s Corona Del Mar, her newest creation. It is named after her beautiful 22 month old daughter, who is her biggest inspiration. Although Harper’s has the same stylish clothing and accessories as Erica D. there is something different. What you ask? The prices of course! Erica D. was a very fashionable and stylish store just like Harper’s, but it catered to a certain clientele. The type who didn’t mind spending $90 on a simple cotton T-shirt. Erica realizes that not many people can afford shopping like that anymore. For that reason, you can find your favorites from the old store, but for those of us who can’t give up shopping and are on a budget, she now has the best of LA designers who make trendy and stylish clothes with very affordable prices. Brands like Collective Concepts and Freeloader. But don’t worry, you can still get your Ella Moss and 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent. The store carries something for every budget. Now, I know we’ve all heard of one-stop shops, but Harper’s truly lives up to the name. Whether you need a pair jeans, a dress for a night out, pair of heels, flats, maybe a new hand bag, a piece of jewelry, or even last minute gifts like a fancy candle, they’ve got it. Oh, and if you forgot to pick up a card to go with your gift don’t worry. They even have a selection of greeting cards… can you believe it? The merchandise is not the only thing that impressed me. The layout of the store, fixtures and colors they used are very calming, inviting and welcoming. It’s obvious the pastel colors of the walls, light purple and light blue make for a very relaxing environment. The light wood fixtures in contrast with the cement flooring is a nice touch. To top that off, this space gets the best natural light so you are sure to have a warm, cozy and relaxing shopping experience. So what are you waiting for? Stop by Harper’s and do your part to help the economy recover faster. You won’t be disappointed.
